Today was the first day we have seen ice on the puddles on Parkrun Tøyen this autumn, but the course was quite runnable, and we look forward to muddy hill being frozen (but not icy) later in the winter.

We also celebrated a milestone of 50 Parkruns, congratulations to Daniel Pulido ULVANG, and thank you for lovely cake.

visitors

We had visitors from at least Sweden, UK, Ireland and Australia, and had a lovely time at the cafe afterwards. It is really nice to see that we often are around a hundred persons running Parkrun, but still please bring a friend next time, we really love newcomers. We know that both Parkrun Østensjø and Fornebu is in the planning for spring, so follow them on Facebook for more information.

Our new selfieframe is getting popular :)

Tøyen Parkrun #93

The weather forecast looked a bit bleak, but still 100 persons showed up to run today. And the rain never started. The course is a bit wet and muddy and slippery at the moment, so people behaved really nicely in the corners. We are really impressed by the buggy runners up muddy hill.

Summer returns for Tøyen parkrun 88

20190921_094704With Oslo marathon also taking place on 21st September it was a big running weekend for Oslo. The return of summery weather and golden sunlight made it a lovely day to get outdoors and enjoy the park and we had a good turn-out at Tøyen parkrun even though some of our regular runners entered Oslo marathon, half-marathon and 10km distances.

This week 76 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 24 were first timers and 8 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 11 different clubs took part. We had visitors from South Africa, Ireland, the United Kingdom and Poland as well as lots of locals from all over Oslo. It was also great to see friendly faces (and an enthusiastic jump) visiting Tøyen from Festningen parkrun in Trondheim.

We are very happy to congratulate Thomas Asgautsen on winning the men's marathon in Oslo. Thomas has joined Tøyen parkrun and Stavanger parkrun several times before.

Tøyen parkrun would like to encourage more walkers to join us. Parkrun is not only for runners and joggers, and we have a currently small number of people who walk who would love to have a few more park walkers to join in. If you are wondering whether to walk at Tøyen parkrun, or if you know someone you could invite who may like to walk 5km in the park, don't hesitate, just do it!
