With Oslo marathon also taking place on 21st September it was a big running weekend for Oslo. The return of summery weather and golden sunlight made it a lovely day to get outdoors and enjoy the park and we had a good turn-out at Tøyen parkrun even though some of our regular runners entered Oslo marathon, half-marathon and 10km distances.
This week 76 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 24 were first timers and 8 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 11 different clubs took part. We had visitors from South Africa, Ireland, the United Kingdom and Poland as well as lots of locals from all over Oslo. It was also great to see friendly faces (and an enthusiastic jump) visiting Tøyen from Festningen parkrun in Trondheim.
The event was made possible by 10 volunteers:
Sharon QUINCE • Cristina Pulido ULVANG • Tor Christian ULVANG • Helen RIST • Patrick Pulido ULVANG • Thirumagal MAHENDRAN • Laura GRAY • Ole-Alexander OPDALSHEI • Leo RIST • Harald GLIEBE
Today's full results and a complete event history can be found on the Tøyen parkrun Results Page.
We are very happy to congratulate Thomas Asgautsen on winning the men's marathon in Oslo. Thomas has joined Tøyen parkrun and Stavanger parkrun several times before.
Tøyen parkrun would like to encourage more walkers to join us. Parkrun is not only for runners and joggers, and we have a currently small number of people who walk who would love to have a few more park walkers to join in. If you are wondering whether to walk at Tøyen parkrun, or if you know someone you could invite who may like to walk 5km in the park, don't hesitate, just do it!
