In the run briefing we reflected on the journey to our launch in Norway which started back in 2015.  Today we have 935 people registered with Tøyen parkrun and 923 participants have completed 2,447 parkruns covering a total distance of 12,235 km, including 488 new Personal Bests.

We want once again to thank everyone that has been a part of the Tøyen parkrun story and especially all of you that have volunteered during this time to help make this weekly event happen. During our first year we have had 96 different volunteers that have filled 383 different roles.  If you would like to join this team, please don’t hesitate to drop us an email to toyenhelpers@parkrun.com.

We really feel that we have established a strong parkrun family here in Oslo, and this is just the start for Norway with our second event in Stavanger already underway, and more locations planned.

It was great to have a total of 40 first timers taking part on Saturday, many of whom are registered at Tøyen.  We also welcomed visitors from the UK, Ireland, Portugal and Australia.  We hope that you enjoyed your first Norwegian parkrun experience and will return soon.

Axel

Axel Walø was of course present, having taken part in 39 of our 40 events, only missing one due to a family birthday.  Axel celebrated with a new PB of 23:29.

Joseph

Joseph Mosley who regularly runs at Tilgate parkrun in the UK joined our 1-year anniversary to celebrate his 100th parkrun – what a fantastic achievement – congratulations Joseph.

Out of the 134 people that ran, jogged and walked the course, 28 recorded new Personal Bests and representatives of 13 different clubs took part.

The celebrations continued after the event with birthday buns for everyone before we headed over to the Handwerk Botaniske café for coffee…and of course more cake.
