Tøyen Parkrun kicks off for 2018

Saturday saw the 2018 launch of Tøyen parkrun after a heavy downfall of snow on Thursday night finally led to runnable conditions in the park.  It was also the first parkrun on the alternative course which has been designed to avoid the cross-country ski tracks.

This week 19 people ran, jogged and walked the course, and we welcomed both regular runners, first timers and international visitors.

Axel Walø was back to complete his 19th Tøyen parkrun and maintain his 100% attendance record, which we hope will long continue.

Our international visitors included Philip Minty, James Oldroyd, Paul and Dylan Swinburne and Helen Marr.  We hope that they all enjoyed the winter wonderland.

First timer Tomasz Danielkiewicz led from the start to finish first in 20:06, and despite the harder alternative route and snowy conditions James Greig was back and managed to achieve a new PB.

This week was the final parkrun for Australian Stephanie Jones before she heads back down under.  Stephanie has been a regular volunteer and parkrunner since our launch in August last year and will be greatly missed.  She was joined by her partner Guy Burnell who completed his first parkrun and braved the conditions in just a t-shirt!
