A happy welcome for first timers, visitors and old friends.

3 September 2022: The sun came out for parkrun after rain overnight, making a warm, bright and friendly welcome for lots of first timers and parkrun tourists in Oslo’s Tøyen Park.

Visitors from Australia, London, Rotherham and south west England had all made the trip to Norway and we were delighted to welcome many new parkrunners from Oslo as well. Two visitors arrived early enough to give up some volunteer time to help with the course set up. That’s the parkrun spirit!

Many parkrunners bring along junior members of the family and while many are speedy runners, the youngest ones get a ride, providing extra strength training for the pushing powerhouse parent at the back!

Party in the park! A parkrun birthday.

Celebrating Tøyen parkrun’s fifth anniversary in style.

There were balloons, bunting, cake, cookies, party hats, high fives, a toy trumpet and smiles all round to celebrate five years of parkrun in Norway - and Tøyenparken - at our event number 151 on 27 August 2022.

The dream birthday present is familiar faces and new parkrunners. We were delighted to welcome some first timers as well as parkrun tourist visitors from the UK (Manchester, London, Cambridge), Australia and a couple of dear old friends from our sister event at Fornebu, Nansenparken parkrun.

Many of today’s participants are regular Tøyen participants and can remember taking part in the inaugural Tøyen parkrun in August 2017.

We had a brilliantly cheerful volunteer crew including Anne-Lise whose sole role was handing out cakes and cookies, and two super girls who took charge of tailwalking and high fiving to give parkrunners a boost as they climbed the hill.
