Pre-festival parkrun 191

At our 191th parkrun in Tøyen park, 130 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 55 were first timers in Tøyen and 13 recorded new Personal Bests. Since parkrun started in Norway in 2017 at Tøyen, we have only had five events with a higher attendance than this weekend (29 July 2023).

We call it pre-festival parkrun as there is no parkrun the next two weekends on 5 or 12 August as the park is being used for Øyafestivalen. Why not visit another parkrun in the area before going to enjoy the music in Tøyen? Nansenparken parkrun in Fornebu is happening on 5 August and both Ekebergsletta parkrun and Nansenparken parkrun are taking place on 12 August.

We were also delighted to have many local parkrunners, both regulars and nineteen people who joined parkrun for the very first time. We hope they felt welcome and come back again.

Summer drizzle at Tøyen parkrun 190

Thanks to the 67 participants and 11 volunteers who joined us on 22 July, a great turnout for the holiday period and also in drizzly showers!

We were delighted to welcome a few parkrun newcomers and visitors including from Trondheim, Stavanger, Illinois USA, Australia and the UK from London, Manchester and Oxfordshire.

A big shout out and “Tusen takk” to the parkrunners who volunteered this time, but especially one absolute high-viz hero Penny, who was back on the roster just three weeks after knee replacement surgery. It is fully possible to timekeep sitting down!

Results here.

We were pleased to host visitors from Australia and New Zealand as well as UK visitors including George and Hilary Hartley from Newcastle who volunteered to tailwalk, before embarking on a week long hiking trip in Jotunheimen national park. They will have longer distances and significantly steeper climbs there than in Tøyen park!
