Nansenparken parkrun #85

After last week's sunny parkrun, a few parkrunners were relieved to have what one called "ideal PB-weather", or cloudy and cool weather, this week in Nansenparken.

Nansenparken parkrun #55

For me this was one of the best parkruns I had been a part of!

It was snowing heavily the night before and during parkrun, and after two assesments we decided to go ahead. The main paths had been cleared but still had a layer of new snow, and the path by the "Festplassen" had not been cleared. But we persisted, setting the signs in the snow drifts. Eventually a small group of mostly regular runners and walkers gathered. We had a short briefing and went ahead.

There were 11 participants including two tail walkers, and run in a few groups together, taking their time through the snow. The volunteers were cheering loudly, and as everyone came over the finish line there was great cheering on and smiles all round. We even had record attendance in the cafe afterwards.

Despite being possibly our smallest parkrun to date, it was the one with the biggest heart, and showed me and everyone else the true spirit of parkrun. Thanks to everyone who took part!

And thanks so much to all our volunteers who made it great!

Don't forget that we are holding parkrun on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. We welcome everyone and also need colunteers, so contact us if you would like to help!

Nansenparken parkrun #54

It was a bracing 9 below this morning, after one of the first big snows of the season. The sun came out and shone brightly on the 20 walkers, joggers and runners who joined us for a wintery parkrun.

We want especially to welcome the two parkrun first-timers who attended, as well as our tourists from Stavanger.

After parkrun several of us enjoyed chai and Christmas goodies at Kaffebrenneriet.

A huge congratulations to Astrid Sørset who smashed her own female course record with a 16 second improvement and a new CR of 17.09! This is the fastest time done by a female parkrunner in a Norwegian parkrun event ever.

Christmas and New Year at Nansenparken parkrun

As long as the running conditions are safe for the runners, Nansenparken parkrun is going ahead as normal every Saturday through the holiday season, even on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve!

We will however, not be doing a New Year's Day Special Event on January 1st, as we do not have enough volunteers that day.

Our friends at Tøyen parkrun in Oslo will be open for the New Year's Day Special Event, so we encourage all parkrunners to visit them to get in an extra parkrun on Sunday January 1st!

Christmas and New Year at Nansenparken parkrun

Due to the lack of volunteers, Nansenparken parkrun will not be holding events on the 25. December 2021 and 1. January 2022.

Our friends at Tøyen Parkrun in Oslo will be open through Christmas, so we encourage all parkrunners to visit them on the two Saturdays when Nansenparken is closed!

We will run as normal all Saturdays up until Christmas, with the last 2021 event on the 18. December and will be back with again from 8. January 2022!
