A whopping 73 people joined us in Nansenparken for this week's event. That is our second highest attendance number, and what a beautiful day to have so many wonderful people join us!

We also had tourists from both New Zealand and Poland visit our parkrun for the first time.

It was extra exciting to have many new people join us after being inspired by running Fornebuløpet (the local 3K, 5K, and 10K race). Doing parkrun is a great way to keep up the motivation between the yearly race!

We were also a good group who joined at the cafe after parkrun for some "parkfaffing" and a "post-parkrun brew". It is so nice to get to know one another outside of parkrun as well.

Nansenparken parkrun #68

Despite ever changing forecasts throughout the week, and a few drops of rain early Saturday morning, we lucked out and had another dry and sunny event! This week 47 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 12 were first timers and 9 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 4 different clubs took part.

We had more starters than finishers this Saturday, but that's part of what's great about parkrun. You do what you can manage, no pressure...and you can try again next week. The important thing is that we all got out and got some fresh air and sorely needed vitamin D.

We had a number of first timers, both runners and volunteers. Runners young and young at heart, in top form and those coming back from injury, strollers, well behaved four-legged companions and a wheelchair. Thank you all for coming out!

Nansenparken parkrun #66 – May 1st special event

Last Monday 1 st May was a momentous day as it was Nansenparken parkrun’s first ever special event.

 report1

68 parkrunners experienced a very special parkrun.

Stuart Johnson was first over the line at 17:34 and in only 3 seconds later was first lady Astrid Brathaug Sørset at 17:37. Although parkrun is non competitive it is nice to acknowledge these super runners.

Dave Oldfield celebrated a massive milestone of 500 parkruns also – and there was a big cheer for him. Not to mention all the treats laid on afterwards – thank you!

  report4
Elizabeth Acklam and her fabulous team of volunteers made each and every one of us who took part extremely welcome, especially in such challenging cold & wet conditions – so a BIG thank to all the high vis heroes for their efforts. We particularly liked the Norwegian chanting as we passed by HIYAHIYAHIYA! It kept us going around the 3 laps of the course.

We were a group of 9 parkrunners from Tralee parkrun in Co Kerry in Ireland otherwise known as the “TpoTs – Tralee parkrunners on Tour”. We had a fantastic weekend - we attended Malmö Ribersborg parkrun in Sweden on Saturday and then took an overnight ferry from Copenhagen to Oslo on Saturday afternoon. It was lovely to experience sailing up through the North Sea and arriving in beautiful Oslo to lovely sunshine on Sunday the day before Nansenparken’s first ever special event!

report7report5

We met a lovely couple from Norfolk, UK on Saturday at the Malmo parkrun - James & Kate and it was a great surprise to see them again at Nansenparken parkrun two days later! parkrun is a very small world, and you never know who you meet again and we hope our paths cross again with lots of the parkrunners and volunteers that we chatted to in the future.

report6report2

There is an open invitation to come an experience our event in the southwest of Ireland at Tralee parkrun, where we will have a very warm welcome for you all. Let us know through our Facebook page if ever you do plan a visit and we will ensure VIP treatment – just like we experienced in Norway over the weekend.

Thank you for having us!
