For me this was one of the best parkruns I had been a part of!
It was snowing heavily the night before and during parkrun, and after two assesments we decided to go ahead. The main paths had been cleared but still had a layer of new snow, and the path by the "Festplassen" had not been cleared. But we persisted, setting the signs in the snow drifts. Eventually a small group of mostly regular runners and walkers gathered. We had a short briefing and went ahead.
There were 11 participants including two tail walkers, and run in a few groups together, taking their time through the snow. The volunteers were cheering loudly, and as everyone came over the finish line there was great cheering on and smiles all round. We even had record attendance in the cafe afterwards.
Despite being possibly our smallest parkrun to date, it was the one with the biggest heart, and showed me and everyone else the true spirit of parkrun. Thanks to everyone who took part!
And thanks so much to all our volunteers who made it great!
Don't forget that we are holding parkrun on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve. We welcome everyone and also need colunteers, so contact us if you would like to help!
The event was made possible by 10 volunteers:
Suzette LI • Amy THOMSON • Erling MORK • Paola NÆRUM • Elizabeth ACKLAM • Linn Jenssen ACKLAM • Cornelia RICANEK • Sigrid RICANEK • Sverre SKEIDE • Benedict NÆRUM
