Christmas and New Year at Nansenparken parkrun

Due to the lack of volunteers, Nansenparken parkrun will not be holding events on the 25. December 2021 and 1. January 2022.

Our friends at Tøyen Parkrun in Oslo will be open through Christmas, so we encourage all parkrunners to visit them on the two Saturdays when Nansenparken is closed!

We will run as normal all Saturdays up until Christmas, with the last 2021 event on the 18. December and will be back with again from 8. January 2022!

nansenparken

The temperatures are beginning to drop and the pond in Nansenparken has frozen over, but that didn't stop 23 happy runners including and 7 equally happy volunteers to make Nanseparken parkrun celebrate it's tenth event!

Although celebrating 10 events, we are working on spreading the word about this event and are excited to see many first timers every week! We are also on the lookout for more volunteers to keep this event going, so if you are curious about volunteering, do not hesitate to reach out to us either via our Facebook page or on our email: nansenparken@parkrun.com.

This week 23 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 9 were first timers and 6 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 3 different clubs took part.

The event was made possible by 7 volunteers:

Dj BHULLER • Amy THOMSON • Peter HACK • Erling MORK • Paola NÆRUM • Elizabeth ACKLAM • Arvid ERIKSSON

Nansenparken parkrun # 9 – 20th November 2021

Another beautiful day for a parkrun. The weather was unseasonably mild but with some wind left over from the previous day. The group was relatively small, but we did welcome a couple of new runners both new to parkrun and new to Nansenparken. Everyone had a great walk, jog or run!

Nansenparken parkrun #8 – 13th November 2021

A quieter Saturday than previously as the last main race of the year took place on Sunday in Jessheim.  The air temperature wasn't as cold as last week but the wind was fierce!  No milestones reported today but we  had 11 first timers and a tourist from the UK.  We are getting more volunteers from outside the core team too, which is fantastic and shows the news is spreading!  I had someone sign up to be a tail walker for next week, which is great forward planning.

Nansenparken parkrun #7 – 6th November 2021

Another glorious Saturday morning in Nansenparken!

This was our first event with a bit of frost on the ground, and the parkrunners were told some causion was needed when running. This did not seem to affect the mood as there were smiles all around the course!

This week we also had a parkrun tourist visiting from the US!

The core team were again delighted to be joined by some new volunteers, and as you all know, without volunteers there will be no parkrun. We are very happy to see that more runners are enjoying taking part in volunteering from time to time. That is exactly what we wish for at parkrun!

The final picture of this week sums up parkrun quite well, as the first finisher has caught up with the tailwalkers, and they are all enjoying parkrun at their own speed, just like we want it to be at parkrun!

Nansenparken parkrun #6 – 30th October 2021

There were dark, heavy clouds looming over Holmkollen but the sun shone on us at Nansenparken this morning.  It was unseasonably warm!  There were many smiling happy faces out on the course today.

One of our tourists today came from Løvstein in Bergen to run her 50th parkrun (Wenche Nesse Gjesdal)!  I think she fancied a good flat route to mark her milestone!  We had our second barnevogn, and had 17 first timers, which is a fantastic turnout and shows that the word is spreading that we are here.

We had a few in fancy dress today, namely our scanner witches and Yoda was also seen out on the course
