First parkrun of 2019 (and our event number 13)

Written by Serap Gonen

Bergen couldn't decide on the weather for our 13th and first Løvstien parkrun of 2019. Our gathering runners were greeted with mist and fog at the start. As they took off, the fog lifted but returned very quickly, at one point we couldn't see the route on the right! Still, it could have been worse...!

Everyone had big smiles on their faces this week for the first run of 2019 - everyone was relaxed and refreshed after the holidays and ready to tackle the new year with a fun 5km run!

Ten enthusiatic runners joined us this week, including fourteen year old twins Eirik and Sondre Aardal with their mother cheering them on with the volunteers. It was Sondre's first time, and Eirik set a new personal best! We hope they will join us again next time!

We had three personal bests this week by Eirik Aardal, Hugo Olsen and Stein Tore Viken. Congratulations!

Special thanks goes to our volunteer Helge Hagen who gave up his time to volunteer then shot off straight after to run the BCM Fellestrening half-marathon. Congratulations Helge! Also to our volunteer Stein Henrik who ran the course and gave tokens after - super fast!

Do you have new goals to keep fit in 2019? Are you looking for a challenge in a friendly atmosphere? Are you training for a race soon? Why not join us in one of our future events? Løvstien parkrun is held every Saturday, 9:30. It's free, friendly and oh so much fun!

This week 10 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 1 was a first timer and 3 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 2 different clubs took part.

The event was made possible by 5 volunteers:

Calum Leitch • Serap Gonen • Helge Hagen • Stein Henrik

The Age Grade course record is held by Ivar Andreas Sandø who recorded 77.56% (21:37) on 10th November 2018 (event number 5).
The female record is held by Lina Rivedal who recorded a time of 20:24 on 20th October 2018 (event number 2).
The male record is held by Nikolas Jon Aarland who recorded a time of 18:08 on 10th November 2018 (event number 5).

Last parkrun of 2018 (#12) (Norwegian and english)

Her kommer rapporten fra den 12. Løvstien Parkrun, vår siste begivenhet i 2018.

Here is our report from the 12th Løvstien Parkrun, our final event of 2018. During this busy time of the year we were delighted to have 9 runners join us in Løvstien. Conditions were nice and we were again lucky to avoid the Bergen rain!
By Calum Leitch

Two of our runners, Hugo Olsen and Mike Los, joined us for their first parkrun at Løvstien. Hugo had an impressive run on his debut as our first finisher and we hope he will be returning to join us again in the new year. Mike, who is usually a regular at Poole Parkrun in the UK, was visiting family in Bergen over the holidays and decided to make the trip up to Løvstien to get his Parkrun fix. It was great to meet Mike and he is of course very welcome to join us again the next time he is in town.

Amongst our returning runners there were 4 new personal records. Kristin Husby was our fastest female finisher and as mentioned previously Hugo Olsen was our first finisher over all. Most importantly was the friendly and positive atmosphere that we have come to expect from Løvstien Parkrun.

Many thanks to volunteers who make the run possible, Morten Nygaard Åsnes, Helge Hagen, Ove Hansen, Arthur Lillefosse and Calum Leitch. A special thank you to Ove and Arthur who volunteered for their first time. Both are regular runners at Løvstien Parkrun but decided it was time to take their turn for volunteering.

Finally a little reminder to keep spreading the word about our event to family and friends. We have already started to form a fantastic parkrun community here at Løvstien and we really hope that will continue to grow in 2019.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Løvstien parkrun event #10

Skrevet av Emma Donegan

A cold wind kept temperatures low this morning for Løvstien parkrun. Our tenth parkrun saw 10 runners turn up for the timed 5k supported by our very own Heidi Espedal as tail walker.

Eleven runners took part including UK parkrun tourists from Cambridge, John and Stephanie Williams, welcome. This week saw three personnel bests including first man home Lars Thore Fadnes closely followed by Stein Henrik Olaussen, who helped hand out finish tokens, thank you. First woman home for the second week running was Kristin Husby.

Thank you to everyone who took part today in cold conditions and well done to our volunteers, without them there would be no event. If you can help out at future events we can provide training in bell ringing, timing or any of the volunteer roles, just message or speak to us. Check out the fun in our photo album.

Post run coffee today we were joined by parkrun tourists and all the volunteers, great way to warm up and discuss running. Special mention to our tail walker Heidi, who for the first time ran the parkrun course she set up. We will see her in the New Year and look forward to hearing about her parkrun tourism.

Perfect conditions for parkrun #9

Av Emma Donegan

Perfect conditions this morning for løvstien parkrun. The course was previously checked to ensure the recent snow fall did not affect the event today.

It was great to see more families taking part today including Silje Bentsen with a stroller, recently moved here from Johannesburg. Twenty runners took part including parkrun tourists from Basingstoke, UK. Only one personal best by Vitor Hugo Moritsugu, taking 14 seconds off his previous best. Still it was Benjamin Dolva who was first home and then able to help out with finish tokens with first woman home, Kristin Husby. Everyone was supported by our volunteer bell ringer Henrik Barry.

Thank you to everyone who took part today its good to see new and regular faces attending. We have plenty of volunteer roles if you would like to get involved and there’s always a post run coffee happening too. Photos of the nineth event have been posted and we hope you like them.
