Løvstien parkrun #31

We have heard it multiple times, from multiple people, coming from all over the world: "This is the toughest/hilliest parkrun I have ever done". So, from now on Løvstien parkrun is in fact the hilliest parkrun ever - at least until someone proves us wrong.
One of our debutants said the following after completing her first run in Løvstien saturday morning: "Its never actually flat" (said with a smile, we must add). So, we have the deepest respect and admiration for all of the 15 runners and handful of volunteers who came out on Saturday - the weather was horrible. Not only did the rain come down in buckets - the clouds were so thick and damp that we didnt even get to see the beautiful views that we know surround Løvstien. For the tourists who came: You guys got the true Bergen experience, no doubt.
Despite the conditions we welcomed 8 first timers and even 2 personal bests. Well done Esther ZIJERVELD and Jeanette SAMUELSEN.

Many thanks to this weeks volunteers:
Silje BENTSEN • Calum LEITCH • Yngvild BJØRLYKKE • Nikolas Jon AARLAND • Heidi ESPEDAL • Helge HAGEN

Summer season is coming up and many of the regulars are traveling. If you can help out a Saturday or two this summer please let us know. E-mail: lovstien@parkrun.com or send us a message on facebook.
We need timers, a barcode scanner, tail walker or someone to hand out the finish tokens. It only requires you to show up a little earlier and staying until we´re finished on the day! Easy peasy!

Until next week!

Heidi

Løvstien parkrun er avlyst 27. april – Løvstien parkrun is cancelled Apr. 27th

Because of the Bergen City Marathon on Saturday April 27th we are canceling Løvstien parkrun. The traffic in the city is closed or partly closed between 8 am and 3 pm that day. That makes traveling both to and from Løvstien difficult. Thanks for understanding.

Welcome back saturday May 4th. :)

Snow for parkrun number 15 in Løvstien (Norwegian)

Resultater finnes her: http://www.parkrun.no/lovstien/results/weeklyresults/…

By Serap Gonen

Another fun-filled parkrun number 14 in Løvstien, despite the wet and windy conditions.

Bergen folk are strong against the bad weather conditions, a little rain and wind never stops a good run! Eighteen runners in their most waterproof running clothes joined us at Løvstien today, a record number for 2019 so far.

We had six runners making their first appearance on the course this week, including Ben Dales, Erling Hagen and Eva Jellestad. We hope you enjoyed the course and look forward to seeing you again soon!

Our list of first timers also included junior runners Mina, Martin and Nora Nygaard Åsnes running with their father and volunteer tail walker Morten. All three juniors completed the full course with lots of energy and big smiles, and crossed the finish line before their father - fantastic work! We hope they join us again soon (kanskje vi sees neste lørdag Martin? :D)

Despite the wet and windy conditions, one of our regular runners Anders Johannessen managed to bag himself a personal best! All the hard work and training with parkrun every Saturday pays off, many congratulations Anders!

Special thanks to Benjamin Dolva for running the course and giving out tokens straight after. He flew around the course in under 20 minutes!

After the event, parkrun volunteers meet at the Magic Hotel Solheimsviken to upload the results and chat over coffee (or try to transfer photos using new technological systems that are impossible to work...). All runners are welcome to join too!

This week 18 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 6 were a first timers and 1 recorded a new Personal Best. Representatives of 1 club took part. Velkommen alle tilbake!

Special thanks to our 6 volunteers:

Calum Leitch • Benjamin Dolva • Emma Donegan • Serap Gonen • Nonglak Iam-arunothai • Morten Nygaard Åsnes

First parkrun of 2019 (and our event number 13)

Written by Serap Gonen

Bergen couldn't decide on the weather for our 13th and first Løvstien parkrun of 2019. Our gathering runners were greeted with mist and fog at the start. As they took off, the fog lifted but returned very quickly, at one point we couldn't see the route on the right! Still, it could have been worse...!

Everyone had big smiles on their faces this week for the first run of 2019 - everyone was relaxed and refreshed after the holidays and ready to tackle the new year with a fun 5km run!

Ten enthusiatic runners joined us this week, including fourteen year old twins Eirik and Sondre Aardal with their mother cheering them on with the volunteers. It was Sondre's first time, and Eirik set a new personal best! We hope they will join us again next time!

We had three personal bests this week by Eirik Aardal, Hugo Olsen and Stein Tore Viken. Congratulations!

Special thanks goes to our volunteer Helge Hagen who gave up his time to volunteer then shot off straight after to run the BCM Fellestrening half-marathon. Congratulations Helge! Also to our volunteer Stein Henrik who ran the course and gave tokens after - super fast!

Do you have new goals to keep fit in 2019? Are you looking for a challenge in a friendly atmosphere? Are you training for a race soon? Why not join us in one of our future events? Løvstien parkrun is held every Saturday, 9:30. It's free, friendly and oh so much fun!

This week 10 people ran, jogged and walked the course, of whom 1 was a first timer and 3 recorded new Personal Bests. Representatives of 2 different clubs took part.

The event was made possible by 5 volunteers:

Calum Leitch • Serap Gonen • Helge Hagen • Stein Henrik

Last parkrun of 2018 (#12) (Norwegian and english)

Her kommer rapporten fra den 12. Løvstien Parkrun, vår siste begivenhet i 2018.

Here is our report from the 12th Løvstien Parkrun, our final event of 2018. During this busy time of the year we were delighted to have 9 runners join us in Løvstien. Conditions were nice and we were again lucky to avoid the Bergen rain!
By Calum Leitch

Two of our runners, Hugo Olsen and Mike Los, joined us for their first parkrun at Løvstien. Hugo had an impressive run on his debut as our first finisher and we hope he will be returning to join us again in the new year. Mike, who is usually a regular at Poole Parkrun in the UK, was visiting family in Bergen over the holidays and decided to make the trip up to Løvstien to get his Parkrun fix. It was great to meet Mike and he is of course very welcome to join us again the next time he is in town.

Amongst our returning runners there were 4 new personal records. Kristin Husby was our fastest female finisher and as mentioned previously Hugo Olsen was our first finisher over all. Most importantly was the friendly and positive atmosphere that we have come to expect from Løvstien Parkrun.

Many thanks to volunteers who make the run possible, Morten Nygaard Åsnes, Helge Hagen, Ove Hansen, Arthur Lillefosse and Calum Leitch. A special thank you to Ove and Arthur who volunteered for their first time. Both are regular runners at Løvstien Parkrun but decided it was time to take their turn for volunteering.

Finally a little reminder to keep spreading the word about our event to family and friends. We have already started to form a fantastic parkrun community here at Løvstien and we really hope that will continue to grow in 2019.

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!

Løvstien parkrun event #10

Skrevet av Emma Donegan

A cold wind kept temperatures low this morning for Løvstien parkrun. Our tenth parkrun saw 10 runners turn up for the timed 5k supported by our very own Heidi Espedal as tail walker.

Eleven runners took part including UK parkrun tourists from Cambridge, John and Stephanie Williams, welcome. This week saw three personnel bests including first man home Lars Thore Fadnes closely followed by Stein Henrik Olaussen, who helped hand out finish tokens, thank you. First woman home for the second week running was Kristin Husby.

Thank you to everyone who took part today in cold conditions and well done to our volunteers, without them there would be no event. If you can help out at future events we can provide training in bell ringing, timing or any of the volunteer roles, just message or speak to us. Check out the fun in our photo album.

Post run coffee today we were joined by parkrun tourists and all the volunteers, great way to warm up and discuss running. Special mention to our tail walker Heidi, who for the first time ran the parkrun course she set up. We will see her in the New Year and look forward to hearing about her parkrun tourism.

Perfect conditions for parkrun #9

Av Emma Donegan

Perfect conditions this morning for løvstien parkrun. The course was previously checked to ensure the recent snow fall did not affect the event today.

It was great to see more families taking part today including Silje Bentsen with a stroller, recently moved here from Johannesburg. Twenty runners took part including parkrun tourists from Basingstoke, UK. Only one personal best by Vitor Hugo Moritsugu, taking 14 seconds off his previous best. Still it was Benjamin Dolva who was first home and then able to help out with finish tokens with first woman home, Kristin Husby. Everyone was supported by our volunteer bell ringer Henrik Barry.

Thank you to everyone who took part today its good to see new and regular faces attending. We have plenty of volunteer roles if you would like to get involved and there’s always a post run coffee happening too. Photos of the nineth event have been posted and we hope you like them.
